Drugstore Lipstick swatches!

It must be my lucky day (or yours), 2 blog posts in one day! Today I've got swatches of the new Revlon Lip Butters and the Covergirl blastflipstick blendable lip duo. The revlon lip butters have been all the rage within the blogging and vlogging community so of course I had to check them out as I do love my gosh soft n shine lip balms (which has been discontinued!). These are not as moisturizing but I believe they are advertised as a lipstick/balm/gloss in one rather than a shine coloured lip balm.

040 Red Velvet, 090 Sweet Tart, 045 Cotton Candy

The texture of these are soft and moist. The darker colours seemed more pigmented than the lighter ones obviously. So far I've picked up 3, and I might go back for a peachy and nude one later. I grabbed the red velvet only because of a certain youtuber who was wearing it in onr of her videos, otherwise just by looking at it, it looks boring and dull. Sweet Tart is a nice brighter pink and can be layered for more colour. Cotton Candy is the sheerest of the 3 and my least favourite as my lips are super pigmented but still nice for everyday.

Next is the Covergirl blastflipstick blendable lip duo in 815 Flashy.

This duo is meant to be blended using both colours (like the pros) so that it can be suited to your needs. They are nice on their own as well as blended together.

The darker magenta colour on the left, the lighter purple in the middle and on the right we have both blended together.

I haven't worn this one out yet but it stained my hand pretty bad, I can imagine it would stay on my lips just as well. The only thing is I had a hard time deciding which colour to get as I think most of the combinations didn't suit my taste.

REVIEW: Personal Microderm

Personal Microderm Review

I've got an exciting review for you today! I had the opportunity of receiving and testing out the Personal Microderm a few weeks ago care of Skin Care RX. It is an at home microdermabrasion system that is easy to use and delivers the same results as you would see if you were to get it done professionally. I am around my mid 20s so I have been worrying about my skin. I have break outs every now and then and lately my skin has been acting up and looking very dull. I have been trying out a variety of different exfoliaters, from manual to chemical but I've never tried anything like this system before.
I have been using it for almost 2 months now and this really has been a huge help in my skin care routine. For the past 2 years, I've tried different types of exfoliation from physical scrubs to chemical types of peels. For awhile I loved the Dr. Dennis Gross aka MD Skincare, Alpha beta Peel pads. It is a two step process that uses AHAs to exfoliate your skin, which helps improve the texture and clarity of your skin quicker and better (as I've found at least) than just using a physical scrub on your skin. These were great but very expensive, even using it every other day.

For those of you who don't know, Microdermabrasion helps with acne marks, sun spots, wrinkles and exfoliation. Typically, you would do this once a week. The PMD system uses luminum oxide micro crystals to gently exfoliate the top layer of skin. This also helps to absorb any serums and moisturizers that you apply to your skin after. I made the mistake of going around the same spot on my skin twice and the first use which turned out to be way more than my skin needed. So, my skin was peeling for a good week and a half! After that, I tried it again but made sure to only go on each spot on my face once and not let it linger around and it really has made my skin look and feel its best. It has reduced the amount of acne I have been getting, though cystic acne spots every now and then still occurred but that can't be helped.

WHAT IT COMES WITH:

-Instruction DVD
-PMD System with power cord
- 6 varying sizes of exfoliating discs
- 1 small cap, 1 large cap depending on whic size disk you use.
- 1 filter

HOW TO USE:

Before plugging it in, it is important that you watch the DVD instruction cd! It is also important not to hover the system on the same spot for long, always keep it moving as it can get "stuck" in one spot and can cause damage to your skin if you're not careful!

The blue discs are for sensitive types, it is also better to start with this one first and then build up tolerance for the green which is medium. The small discs are for smaller areas such as around the nose and mouth. The larger ones can be used on larger areas of skin such as the chest area and elbows. Eventually as you use them, the crystal grits away and they will need replacing. You can purchase those online as well.

Before placing the disc on the system, be sure you have the filter placed on, then place the disc. You will then choose which suction cap/cup depending on the size of the disc you have choose to use. Screw it on securely. This not only protects your skin from the disc but also helps create a suction on your skin.

The first time use is always a little scary, so try it on your hand first to get a feel of it which is what I did. Once it comes in contact with your skin you will hear a change of noise, this means that it has suctioned onto your skin as well as exfoliating with the disc part. You want to also hold your skin taut with one hand and move the system away and out with the other hand.

After use, make sure to rinse the cap as well as the filter, running in under water then letting it dry off before using it again. It is recommended to be used every 5-7 days.
Be sure to always use sunscreen during the day!

MY RESULTS:

I love this system and I will continue to repurchase more replacement discs in the future. It has helped in the overall clarity of my skin (with the exception of cystic spots every now and then) as well as texture. I am very happy with this system!

Wow, how long has it been since I did a FOTD? Even I don't remember! I made it my mission to do at least one sometime this week and I'm glad I did. Today's FOTD I am using new products by The Body Shop which is from their new Extra Virgin Mineral line. I purchased the cream foundation, honestly because it looked exactly like the smashbox cream foundation that I have been wanting to try but waaaaay cheaper at $25 CAD!

Reusing vintage lipstick tubes

I saw another blogger's post on how to do this so I thought I'd give it a try. I found this old tube of Avon lipstick in one of the shops, they usually go for about $10.

Inside was a very nice pastel peach colour.

I am replacing it with my MAC Red lipstick.

Be sure to remove everything, take the tube apart, soak it over night and then rub it with alcohol.

Freeze your lipstick, I froze mine overnight. Then use wax paper to slowly wiggle the lipstick out. Then place it into the "new" lipstick tube!

And there it is! The only downfall is that I didn't realize that the vintage tube was way more shallow than the mac one so when I twisted it with the new lipstick to the top, it looked like it was almost done.

Hello all! There's a reason I haven't been updating on a regular basis.

1) I have been too exhausted from work and home life that I just forget.
2) I haven`t been feeling very inspired as far as posts and FOTDS :(
3) Haven`t been purchasing as many items as I usually have.
4) I found another hobby,

Number 4 leads me to this, I have a new blog! This doesn`t mean I will stop posting here... at least no for now. I still love beauty products but I haven`t been that much into it as I used to. The reason I decided to open a new blog is because as much as a love makeup and skin care... I would love to blog about other things such as food, fashion, hobbies as well as make up and other random things. So why not open a new blog where I can post about all that!

Lush + B&BW Goodies!

Hey everyone! I feel like I've been apologizing too many times for my quick posts and disappearance, but I just want to remind you that I haven't forgotten about blogging. Life came up and its been hectic! I recently just celebrated my 26th birthday and I wanted to share with you the thoughtful goodies my good friend got for me.

I love the Bath & Body Works candles, especially the sweater scents. She got me one of my fave lush products which are the shower jellies! These lasts forever and they lather up really well. I just take a tiny bit, squish it into a shower puff and scrub away!

Besides all that, I did a tiny bit of self pampering with these new goodies! I got 4 candles from Bath & Body Works and SO got me the new tooth tabs toothpaste from lush (not pictured is a lush fresh face mask)! I'm a sucker for anything sweet :) Caribbean Escape is half off and its my favourite b&bw scent ever.

I can't wait to use them all up :) Let me know if you'd like a review on anything you see here.

I feel terrible for not updating but I've been on vacation and I wanted to just relax and enjoy while I get a chance to. I have just a short simple post up today. I recently visited the Apothica store in Salt Lake City and purchased just a couple of items.

They had the Bare Escentuals Rare Minerals Night Revival treatment and the Renew and Reveal powder cleanser mini up for sale as it is the old packaging. I also found they had the Vincent Longo line and purchased their creme concealer which I love to brighten under the eyes.

I'm very excited to try the night treatment, does anyone have any experience using this? I'd love to know :)

leopard craze

I recently picked these up at sephora. They are nail stickers in this cute leopard print pattern! I thought, what better way to use these than with black tipped nails! I think this is one of my favourite nail looks so far.

The stickers were quick and easy to use, though I would only use one on each hand at a time to prevent that tacky look that can easily come with over exaggerated nails. Have you ever used any type of nail sticker art... tell me what your favorites are! 'Til next time :)

What's In My Travel Skin/Hair Bag

I love packing... don't ask me why but I just love it. Maybe its because I like going through my small trial sized items that I always save for times like these or maybe its because I barely travel. Either way, whenever I get the opportunity to, I like to pack way ahead of time!

I know, I've been neglecting this little blog of mine. Things are slowly but surely changing and my days are getting shorter and busier. I'm going away for one week for work later on and I decided to share what I'm taking with me. Today its my skin and hair care. I decided since its only a week I will only pack whats necessary. Let's get on to it then...

The bag is from Benefit. The the perfect toiletries bag and I love the towel-like fabric that its made of.

EXTRAS: Shiseido cotton pads for removing makeup, Refresh eye drops and a sleeping mask.

SKIN: StriVectin eye cream, Clearasil, Caudalie foaming cleanser and Bioderma make up remover. I bought the Bioderma specifically for this because it was a travel size and it would be a perfect time to test it out since I keep hearing huge raves about this product. lets hope it lives up to all the hype.

HAIR: B&BW shampoo, Phyto conditioning mist, Living Proof styling spray, Cake dry shampoo.
I still need to find a small hair conditioner... not sure which one to go with yet.

Along with all these theres the typical, deoderant, toothpaste etc but didn't take photos of those. next week I'll post my make up must haves for travel! Til next time, have a great weekend!

A Week in Orange: GOSH soft 'n shine lip balm in Irony

Next up is a tinted lip balm that packs soft colour! If you must try one product by Gosh, try their shine 'n shine lip balm. The "balm" is more like a sheer lipstick. I have 3 already and I am just loving them for the summer. The shade Irony is a light orange shade, perfect if you only want a hint of orange on your lips. This is one shade that really brightens up your face!

The formula is extremely moisturizing, perfect for dry lips.

I've got about two coats swatched.

A week in Orange

Hi guys 'n gals! This week I will be posting up my go to orange lipsticks. On twitter I asked for blog post ideas and NuNu suggested orange lip post since it is the "in" colour. This was a great idea as I have been sporting oranges of different shades lately. My posts will have orange in many different varieties as everyone can wear tangerine shades :) I start off this week with Tom Ford's lip color in True Coral.

True Coral is a deep orange with red. Its great on tanned and deeper skin tones too. Although this is on the pricey side, its a shade worth checking out!

I haven't done a lipstick haul post in a long long while. I recently grabbed 4 new lip colours that I'm eager to share with you!

I wanted to try the new Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks. Gloss more than a lipstick or even a tinted balm. What I love about these is that you don't even need a mirror to apply these and they are super moisturizing! They are quite sheer I have to say, so they're not for everyone.

The other 3 I ordered from Apothica. The Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks are one of my favourite lipstick formulas. I picked up: Rouge Volupte is #2 and #8 as well as a Rouge Pur Couture in #10.
The Rouge Voluptes are creamy, light and pigmented while the Rouge Pur Coutures are pigmented, comfortable and long lasting!

REVIEW: Hana Air Blow Dryer

I've been using the same old blow dryer for years now, Conair pro 1600, and it was just time for a change. I received the Hana Air blow dryer from John of Misikko a few weeks ago and have been using it every day. Before I get to the Pros and Cons let me tell you that it was a pleasure dealing with the company. John let me know when it was on back order and if there was something else I wanted to review instead. I insisted on waiting since I was curious about blow dryers since the one I used didn't dry my hair quick and was a pain. It shipped pretty quickly once it came back in stock.

A few things I wanna point out is my package. when I opened it up all I expected was the dryer, but they added a whole bunch of goodies (My pack also came with a shine shield but it leaked in the bag so I didnt get to use it)! I was so shocked and impressed by all the attention to detail. John even included a handwritten note on my receipt which I was amazed by, I know not many companies take the time to do that .

MY EXPERIENCE: I loved it! I know this has only been my 2nd one but my old one took forever to dry my hair so I'd only do it half way. With the hana, it dries so much quicker! Even though it was heavier than my old one, it is a good weight and doesn't bother me. I can hold it at the very top where I get more control and I wont feel like its tipping over.
The only down side is that I had to keep fiddling with it to figure out the buttons.

PRICE: $194.99 US

PROS:
* Quicker drying time
*Easy to hold.
* 2 year warranty.

CONS:
*Lack of instructions.

OVERALL: I've had a great experience with Misikko and I'd love to try other products that they carry. I would definitely recommend this hair dryer to everyone.

Hey there lovely bloggers! Just a quick post letting you all know about a wonderful blow dryer I am testing out for you. John of Misikko, contacted me and asked if I'd like to review one of their top selling blow dryers. I thinkt he timing was perfect since I had been thinking of getting a new one since I had mine for almost 9 years now! I have been using it the past week and I have only good things to say about it so far. I'll be using it for another week and I'll have a full review up soon!

One more thing I have to note is the cute extras put in! What I love most is that John included a personal hand written note which I thought was pretty awesome. Not many companies take the time to do that, so thank you John!

OVERVIEW: DRY SHAMPOO

Lately I have been using dry shampoos a lot more than usual, mostly because of my bangs and that I don't like washing it every day. If you have no clue what a dry shampoo is its a hair refresher for in between washes. I wash my hair every other day and my hair does tend to get oilier so a dry shampoo helps soak up the oil and give your hair a bit of lift and volume. They come in two forms: straight powder and in a spray can. The powder is applied by shaking it onto the roots (I like lifting the hair and putting it underneath) and for the spray, you just aim it a few inches away from your scalp, spray, wait a few minutes for it to dry and soak up, then shake and brush it out! Dry shampoo is especially good for people with bangs as that part of the hair tends to look oily very quickly! I have used many and here's my take on each!

Tresseme Fresh Start:
I gave this one away because the 2 times I used it, it made my hair so sticky that I couldn't even comb through it! I don't really have any pros for this one unfortunately. This one is available at drugstores and some supermarkets.

TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo:
I love this! This has got to be my favourite one. I don't remember the price but it was the most expensive one though it does have a lot of product. The mist on this is so fine that it leaves no trace of white residue and sucks up my oil well. Be warned though that once its almost done, it goes by a lot quicker. Also I've read reviews that said they only used it a few times til it started to run out, though that hasn't happened with mine. I purchased this at Trade Secrets.

Oscar Blandi Pronto:
This one is not like the others in the way of application. Unlike the others, this one isn't in a spray form (though its available in a spray can as well), rather its a powder. what I like about this is that, it doesn't apply wet so I feel like it sucks up my oil a lot better. The one con is that since its a powder, you have to be careful to really shake it out/comb it out since it can leave a white residue especially on darker hair.

Klorane Oil Suppressing Dry Shampoo:
Purchased this from the drugstore awhile ago and this is my favourite drugstore dry shampoo so far. It dries pretty quick and doesn't leave any obvious white colour on my hair! I find this one to be one of the best for oily hair as well. I got mine at Shopper's Drug Mart.

Cake Satin Sugar Hair & Body Refreshing Powder:
You can use this for your hair or body but I have only used it for my hair. I like it because its so small so I can stick it in my purse for touch ups. I have it in the dark tone (they also have a light tone) but I don't find it makes much difference since the powder is really not that dark. Like the Oscar Blandi, it dispenses powder rather than spraying wet. This is only available at Sephora.

Batiste Original & Coloured Dry Shampoo:
The Original Batiste in the green bottle I liked til I got about half way, it just started to become too wet for some reason. Haven't tried the coloured one yet but once I do I will let you know! I got the coloured one at winners a few months back and the original at Shopper's Drug Mart.

John Frieda Anytime Volume Refresher:
I recently got this at Rexall so I can't say anything about it at all. Its a new product and I am excited to give it a go once I'm done with the klorane. I'll have a review on it sometime in the next few weeks.

I have also tried the Rene Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo which is pretty awesome but haven't bought it as it is almost $30 CAD! The spray comes in a "skin tone" colour and I've had no problems with the colour showing. Another I have tried but haven't bought is the Oscar Blandi Volumizing one. What I like about that one is that it goes on absolutely clear! A no fuss spray!

New Release: Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Foundation + No Buy!

I recently hopped over to temptalia and the new Bobbi Brown foundation caught my eye. Its called the Extra Repair Foundation with SPF 25 and aimed towards dry and mature skin.

Bobbi Brown states:

Extra Repair Foundation SPF 25 gives skin perfect coverage, moisture & broad-spectrum sun protection. Infused with Shea Butter and Evening Primrose Oil, this does-it-all formula combines all the skin-nourishing benefits of Bobbi’s Extra Skincare with the skin tone-correct color and buildable coverage of her foundations. Over time, it also helps replenish & strengthen skin. Ideal for dry and very dry skin types.

I have the Bobbi Brown Extra Tinted Moisturizing balm and while its a nice product I find it tends to slip around my skin a little too much. I have dry skin so I do like a foundation that has some moisture in it so the new foundation caught my eye. Available in 20 shades and launching in April 2011 at counters and the Bobbi Brown website.

I will definitely be trying this out once my no-buy is over... oh, I guess I forgot to mention that! I decided to give up buying cosmetics for 60 days (lent) and I'm already past week 3. I have 4 more weeks left and while it was very hard it has helped me use up products I have been neglecting. "No-buys" are great to do when you have way too many products, because then you are forced to rotate your stash!

Solotica Contacts Review

I've got a completely different review for you today but in a way it is pretty much as "vain" as beauty products so it fits in very well! Over a month ago I placed an order for Solotica Contacts from WRLens. I have used coloured contact lenses in the past, usually the freshlook ones which are easy to find but can look unatural very easily. I was on a mission to find the most realistic, natural looking contacts I could find. I came across a couple of beauty bloggers/vloggers who had reviews for this brand, Solotica. Solotica is company based in Brazil that specializes in natural looking coloured contacts. These are said by many to be the most natural looking ones, thats why I decided to go for them (Christiana over by Memoirs of a Shopping Addict's review definetly gave me the push, Thanks!! By the way, hers look great on her!).

I went for the Mels (Honey) because they are the ones that look the most natural on dark brown eyes. I was also going for a green eye to replace my freshlook greens (which look too harsh on me sometimes). The contacts change in different lighting which do help give it a more natural appearance. I also choose the Mels in the Hidrocor look which doesn't have the limbal ring around the edge. Most people prefer the Hidrocharme because of the thick limbal ring (gives the appearance of a larger iris) but I believe the charmes are the way to go for the most natural look. They also recently came out with the Natural Colors, which has a light grey limbal ring, I think I will order those next.

Here's a comparison of the Fresh look Color Blends in Green on the left and the Solotica Hidrocor Mel on the right. As you can see, the freshlooks has a very obvious pattern on the lens. Solotica's has a very soft, light almost grey/yellow pattern.

On dark brown eyes the Mels tend to look more green, on lighter eyes I believe they are more honey coloured. That's what I love about these contacts. They look so natural that one colour can look completely different on another eye colour.

As far as comfort goes, I find them to be so much more comfortable than my freshlooks which almost instantly bug my eyes. It is recommended to wear up to 8 hours until it starts to get uncomfortable which I find to be true.

I paid a little over $100 CAD for one pair plus shipping to Canada (I also have a prescription on these), they are available with or without prescription as well. These are annual contacts so the price is pretty good! Shipping was great, took 2 weeks from the time I ordered. Overall, I definetly would purchase again (other colours of course) and I would 100% recommend these for someone who wants to experiment with coloured lenses but doesn't want the harsh look of most lenses. Two Thumbs Up!

What I'm Loving Now...

I love reading everyone's favourite products of the month but I can't seem to keep that up myself, so instead heres my "what I'm loving now..." post :)

After seeing juicytuesday's YT vids of her raving as well as Lisa Eldridge, I think it was a definite must try for me and I'm so glad I did! Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation-this is a hard core foundation... it really is. It has intense pigmentation but its super blendable and looks very natural. I only use it as a concealer to spot correct though because I really don't need that much coverage all over. Also it can tend to look cakey if you apply this to your whole face. I bought this in the shade 35- sand.

Along with it I use the new Sephora air brush concealer brush #57 which is mighty impressive! its about as thick as my index finger and round and fluffy enough to diperse just enough concealer any place on your face. I don't even bother with the flat concealer brushes because they don't blend out the edges very well.

Another thing I am loving is the Giorgio Armani Lashes To Die For Mascara in waterproof of course! Its just as good as my beloved Lancome Hypnose but I don't find it to clump on me. If only it was cheaper... (about $35 CAD).. ouch!

You can't like everything...

Hi guys! I was recently cleaning up my stash when I came across a couple of items I haven't review. Why? Because I hated them! I don't mind doing reviews on products that I dislike but most of the time its not the first thing on my mind that I am eager to share with you guys. On the other hand, negative reviews are good because that way you can weigh the pros and cons and decide for yourself if you want to give the product a go or not, saving you money and time!

Here are 3 products I absolutely hate:

#1) Rimmel Recover Anti- Fatigue Concealer
First off I bought this for under my eyes. I got it on sale for about 3 bucks which is pretty cheap. Well no wonder its on sale. This thing doesn't even last for a couple of hours, it just fades and my skin isn't even oily. The coverage is ok, but what can you expect from a liquid concealer right?

#2) Stila Illuminating Finish Powder in Rose Gold
I can't believe this is advertised as a finishing powder. The "illuminating" particles are just chunky glitter. Even has a highlight this did not work for me and was less than flattering.

#3) Rimmel MAX Volume Flash mascara waterproof
Before I start I have to say that I only wear waterproof mascara because its the only formula that holds my curl all day. I saw this on sale and thought I'd give rimmel mascaras a try. This so called waterproof mascara didn't even hold my curl for 10 minutes, literally! It didn't do much as far as volume either. A big disappointment!

Please note: These are just my experience with products that didn't work for me. If they worked for you then thats great :)

New Hair

Sorry for my lack of updates. I recently got sick so I decided I should update you at least with a small post. I got my haircut a little over a month ago, I have bangs again! I think it looks better than before because my hair is much longer. I did have to trim it last week as the hair was jabbing into my eye. I think I'll keep this look for awhile :)

I've been meaning to share this little gem with you guys for awhile now. I'm not too keen on moisturizer which is odd because my skin does have dry patches most of the time, but what bugs me about moisturizes is that it feels too slick on my skin. Until now I realize I probably wasn't using what worked for me. I wanted soemthing light, fresh, easily absorbed and not sticky and thats exactly what this moisturizer from bliss does for me!

The texture is heavenly, its a like gel-cream hybrid that sinks into your skin very nicely making it perfect for wearing underneath makeup. The smells is a nice bonus too, a light citrus scent! Its light enough for people who have oily skin as well. Now if you have very dry skin, this probably won't be the best choice for you but its nice to wear during the day time. I'm not so certain about the brightening properties after a bit my face looks and feels a lot "fresher". Bliss has really been wining my heart lately, from the triple oxygen instant energizing mask to the hand creams! Love love love :)

p.s. Another awesome gel moisturizer I love is the Skin Food Lettuce & Cucumber Water Jelly Cream!

Stila Prime Pot for eyes!

I recently got the chance to try out Stila's new primer, Prime Pot, which is similar to mac's paint pots. I haven't tried out mac's paint pots so I can't tell you how they differ but I do know that stila's are well worth the money. It comes in 2 shades: Taffy- for lighter skin tones and Caramel for darker skin tones. I have the caramel colour and it is too dark for me to wear alone (maybe in the summer it will blend in better) but thats ok because I usually wear some colour on my lids. The purpose of these pots is to hold your shadow for all day vibrancy of shadows as well as crease and waterproof or just evening out your eye lids.

At first touch, it feels very soft and creamy but once you apply it to your lids, it dries pretty quickly making it good for oily lids as well. I haven't had any problems blending my shadow with this underneath either. Overall, I have been loving this and for me its quicker to use than my UDPP :)

REVIEW: Korres Wild Rose Mineral Foundation

I've finally had the chance to use the Korres wild Rose Mineral Foundation enough to review. I'm pretty sure I've found my HG mineral powder! Not only does it brightened my complexion, it does not make my itch! I have tried Bare Minerals original but was not able to wear it in the summer when i sweat because my skin reacts to the bismuth and makes me feel itchy and sometimes I get splotchy which makes me not want to even bother. The coverage is like any other mineral powder but unlike others i;ve tried, it is easily layerable without looking cakey and thats important for me because my skin has dry areas. I purchased mine at sephora.

Korres claims:

This talc-free, loose powder foundation contains brightening Wild Rose extract. Its texture allows skin to breathe, and its healing formula helps to reduce lines and wrinkles while repairing uneven skin tone. Wild Rose Extract: Repairs fine lines and wrinkles and improves uneven pigmentation as a potent source of Vitamin C.
Rose Quartz: Illuminates the skin, softens flaws, and boosts skin's radiance.

PACKAGING: Plastic circle container with a screw off cap. Sifter, but beware when traveling!

PRICE: $28 USD... about $32-35 CAD

PROS:
* SPF 30
* Immediate brightening of the skin
* Does not accentuate dry patches.
* Buildable.
*comfortable.

CONS:
*At the moment they only have 4 shades to choose from. Hopefully, if people love it, they will expand the colour range.

OVERALL: I love this stuff as you can see! I like to use it with the Korres Antiageing primer (the only primer that works with my skin) for extra wear and I buff it in with my Sephora #45 mineral powder brush. If you are on the very fair or very tan side I'm not sure if you'd be able to find a match as there are only 4 shades available, if you are in between you may be able to find one that works :)

Oh my GOSH!

I recently grabbed hold of these new GOSH intense Lip Colours and I have to say I am hooked! Lately I've been loving the GOSH soft 'n shine lip balms which are similar to MAC's slimshines but way better. The intense lip colours are full colour liquid lip glosses. They have a bit of tack to them, enough that they last a good amount of time but not so much that they feel sticky on your lips.

I picked up two colours, 301 which is a pale durty pink and 304- a deep rose.

I also love the bonus features on the tube: A mirror on the side and an LED light on the top of the wand that lights up when you click the button on the lid!

Whats nice about the button is that you can decide when you want the light and when you don't need it!

A new foundation that Fits Me!

Hello blogger world! I recently picked up a new foundation that I'm sure you have all heard about. Its the maybelline FIT ME! foundation. As soon as I heard it was available here in canada only at walmart I had the SO drive me to the closest one! When I got there, the display was pretty torn up, many of the foundation shades were gone. Maybelline also provided testers for each shade. I matched myself to 130- Buff beige. I have only used it once but I can already tell I will love it as each day goes.

So what makes this foundation so different? Maybelline wanted to create a system that made it easy for women (and men) to find their shade by a numbering system which includes foundations, powders, concealers, blushes and bronzers and they all correspond to the same shade number. For example I matched myself to shade 130, theres powders, concealers, blushes and bronzers that are also listed as 130 which would go well for someone who is that shade. You don't necessarily have to pick the blush or bronzer from that same number but its there as a guide for women to use. This makes things a whole lot easy for anyone who is just starting out and doesn't want the hassle of deciding what looks good on them. This line is also perfect for anyone who wants a natural, non-cakey finish.

Maybelline states the foundation has/is:

* No oils, no waxes, no nonsense
* Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be…fresh, breathing, natural
* Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through
* Non-comedogenic, dermatologist-tested

I only purchased the foundation, but I've been thinking about getting the powder as well because of all the raves. The past few months I have really been loving using light to medium coverage foundations instead of heavy ones. This does remind me a little of NARS sheer glow though I don't own it, I have sampled it before so I can't really say too much about the similarites of each.

I believe I purchased this for about $6.99 CAD and as far as I know, its only available at walmart in Canada. I'll try to have a FOTD up soemtime this week sporting this!

REVIEW: Maybelline One by One Volum' Express Waterproof

Hey guys and gals! I saw this mascara the other day at SDM and I am a fan of maybelline mascaras so I needed to try this one out! I got this in waterproof and according to maybelline the mascara promises:
* Patented Lash Catcher brush has 3 bristles per lash to make every lash count. It catches, coats and de-clumps each lash to make them all fatter and flirtier. * Instant clump-free volume. * Contact lens safe and Ophthalmologist tested. * Waterproof; also available in washable formula.

This mascara is probably the best lash separating mascara I've tried. It really fans out my lashes more than anything I've used, all thanks to the comb. The only downside is that I would like my lashes to look thicker, but that's always fixed with layering a thickening mascara over top :) Guys, I think we have a keeper!

PACKAGING: It comes in a bright neon coral tube that looks similar to the other volum' express mascaras. The wand is made up of plastic bristles which are evenly spaced out which really helps to coat every lash.

PRICE: About $11 CAD

PROS:
* Amazing at lengthening and separating.
* Good for layering with thickening mascara for extra thickness.

CONS:
*It doesn't thicken my lashes much and the fat comb makes it hard to get your bottom lashes.

OVERALL: I would definitely recommend this, especially anyone who complains about their non existent lashes.

My Current Favourite Face Products (Maybelline and Laura Mercier)

Let's ignore my lipstick obsession just for one second... ok, good? Well I have found some possible holy grail products that aren't lip products I want to share with all of you! Are you in shock? I am! Long have I waited for the maybelline dream SMOOTH mousse to come into our canadian stores and I found it finally 2 months ago! I must say it really surprised me. The only foundation Ive used from that dream line is the dream liquid mousse which I do like but not to the point where I used it every day. This on the other hand I have been using every day I go out for a month (before I got sick) and its amazing! I love the coverage and the way it sits on my face.

I was lucky enough to find a good colour match which I got in 240 natural Beige. I don't
particularly like the packaging but I can live with it. It comes in a round plastic pot with a screw top lid. No mirror but only a separate compartment for a sponge which I don't use (applies too much product). I was warned by other about the tiny size of the actually cream itself.

You get 14g of product in the tiny compartment. If you use a brush like I do, you don't need to apply too much. I use my sephora 45 mineral powder brush. I love this brush for liquid and powder, it has become my HG brush! I just dab it in and then swirl it on my face.

So far this has been good to my skin, no extra breakouts so far! This is something I can see myself purchasing again and again.

Note: Something I forgot to mention is that my skin isn't oily but its dry in some spots, mostly my chin. Its moisturizing enough that it doesn't accentuate my dry spots. This product is medium coverage and is more suitable for dry/normal skin. Oily skin gals may want to pass on this!

The next discovery is the laura mercier Pressed mineral powder. Now, I love her loose mineral powder but I hate bringing it around so I decided to get this. I love it and I use it on top of my maybelline dream smooth mousse to help with the lasting power. I love the compact, its small, thin and has a mirror thats big enough to use. It comes with a sponge that has 2 sides, one for light coverage and one for full, again I dont use the sponge only a brush (my personal preference).

At the moment I'm testing out this new mineral powder by Korres. I do love the powders I use now but I have recently been addicted to the korres antiageing primer and when I found out they're coming out with a mineral powder I knew I needed to try it. A review will come for that in a few weeks :) stay tuned!

Cellnique Review and Free Samples!

I'm back and feeling better! I'm full of guilt with not being able to update so as soon as I felt better I decided I must. Also my laptop is completely dead so I am borrowing my brother's for now. As promised, I have a review on the items Cellnique sent me. Unfortunately I don't have any before or after photos but its not that big of a deal as I will tell you later.
I've heard many good things about Cellnique so when I had a chance to try some of their products I was thrilled. I have been using the Soothing and Hydrating Lotion and their Advanced Bio Renewal Masque for over a month now.

First up is the Soothing and Hydrating Lotion.

This is used after you cleansed your face and acts like a toner which helps absorb your moisturizer. The website describes this as: This unique complex lotion consist 14 types of plant extracts to calm sensitive prone skin. It helps to refresh tired skin and replenish skin moisture - spray anytime you wish to. This is a hypoallergenic formulation excellent for all skin types. Benefits • Prevents skin dryness • Soothing and calming • Evens skin tone

In my experience this was very soothing and calming though I haven't noticed any visual changes in my skin. Its a nice product to have especially if you're looking for something that won't irritate your skin. |What I like about it is that it comes in a spray bottle so you're not using any cotton pads. I dont think this is a product that has made such a difference that i would purchase it again, also I have tons of product left (its 200ml) so i wont be finishing this anytime soon! I also haven't noticed any evening of my skin tone but then again I haven't found anything that does do that.

Next up is the Advanced Bio Renewal Masque.

I love this stuff! Its a light textured mask which doesn't harden and also has exfoliating properties that doesn't irritate skin.

Cellnique says: This unparalleled scrub masque is formulated with bio-captured fresh fruit enzymes and acids complex. It works effectively in exfoliating dead cells, optimizing cellular renewal performance and deep pore cleansing, thus revealing a softer, fresher and healthier skin. Benefits • Exfoliates dead skin cells and deep pore cleansing • Optimizes cell renewal performance • Slows down aging process • Instant lightening, brightening and whitening effects

It does a great job exfoliating and my skin doesn't feel tight (which I hate) after wards. My skin does look brighter right after I use it but I have not yet seen any fading of scars yet. I use this once a week and I would bump it up to 2 or 3 times if I'd like to later on. What I love most about this is the texture. Its not too thin and not too thick, its not hard to wash off and the exfoliating particles aren't harsh. I would definitely recommend this product for any skin type!

I hope all has been well you everyone so far. As for me, I haven't made a post because... I caught the flu!! Let me tell you, its nothing as I expected, it was a lot worse. I'm still suffering from it but its not as bad as it was last week. When I first had it I experienced very bad body pains where I was unable to move around because it hurt so much. I had bad coughs (which I still do now but not as bad. I had 2 very high fevers that came with chills and sweats. It was very crazy, all I could do was lay in bed and try to drink water and tea.
As for new years, we had family come by as always and my mom made tons of food, which I wasn't able to eat :( Besides that I spent the day in bed. At the end of the night I couldn't even drink tea because my throat hurt too much. It was probably one of the worst new years eves' I've ever had unfortunately. I hope everyone else's was much better.

When I was younger I loved collection stickers. When I got a little older it was beads. Now, its make up. I must admit that I *am* a make up junkie and I'm not ashamed to say! Some people love collecting shoes or bags, what makes beauty products any different?

YSL Rouge Pur Couture!

I have been meaning to do this post for ever now, and I finally had time to getting to it! Rouge Pur Couture is the new range of lipsticks from Yves Saint Laurent. Can I say that I absolutely love these?! I know I seem to love them all but what makes these ones stand out from the YSL lipstick line is the intense colour and comfortable long wearing formula. We all rave about the YSL Rouge Voluptes, but what makes these ones even better (packaging not included, I still like the case of the RV better!) is how long they last. Rouge Voluptes are much thinner in consistency thus making their staying power, almost non existent... almost! The formula for the Couture lipsticks are thicker but its not very noticeable, at least for me.

I picked up 2 colours so far, 05 and 07. 05 is a darker nude with brown undertones and 07 is the brightest colour they have, a deep fuchsia. I have been thinking of getting a lighter nude and maybe a red as well. The downside to these? Well besides the ridiculous price tag, the packaging seems to pick up finger prints like no other! The packaging is very similar to their Rouge Pur line but the sides aren't as sharp (If you own any of the rouge pur lipsticks you know what I mean!) which is such a good thing!

6 Beauty Items I Can't Live Without!

Hey Guys n Gals! I am guilty of not updating but as everyone else probably guessed, the holidays brings busier days resulting in less blog posting for some, me included!

If you had to throw away all your beauty products and only keep 6, which ones would you choose? For me its a tough decision... I normally like rotating products and change my favourites every now and then. After a while of debating, here are my picks in no particular order!

1) Becca Concealer

I love this one and wouldn't be without it because it covers both under eyes and blemishes. One side is heavy duty and the other not as much but creamy enough for under the eyes!

2) L'oreal waterproof Voluminous Carbon black mascara

When I first used this I thought it was ok. To be honest I didn't wanna be sucked into the hype of this mascara. I got it on sale, tried it a few times, didn't care too much for it and left it in the back of my drawer. A little bit later I saw it and decided to use it all up. Low and behold, this lives up to the hype, I wish it weren't so but I do love it!

3) Make Up Forever Eye Brow Corrector

My brows are so light and some spots have no hair at all! I cant leave the house without filling them in and this one is the best long staying brow product I've tried.

4) Labello/Nivea lip balm

My lips are always super chapped and feels very uncomfortable when I'm not wearing any!

5) Chanel blush in Orchid Rose

My all time favourite blush. It gives my face dimension as well as brightening it up a little.

6) Tweezerman Lash Curler

Shu Uemura never worked for me even though people swear by it. Tried it and gave it away and came back to tweezerman. love love love!

Hey guys n gals! I've been wanting to do this post for a while now. Even though the Vitamin c serum didn't work for me, I really do love the other goodies I picked up from the body shop.

The first rave I have is the Warming Mineral Mask. Its a clay type mask which really does "warm" up. In fact I would say it heats up. I have sensitive skin but I really do like the warming effect. Its especially nice in the cooler months when other masks just don't do it. I like using this before popping in the shower to get a deeper cleanse. I think this is great for even dry skin because although there's clay in it, it isn't as drying as it seems.

The consistency is heavy but very liquid-y at the same time.

The next rave I have is the new fall Cheek/face powder. I bought the shade chestnut which is similar to a bronzer. Its actually a dupe for the Lorac tantalizer but at a much cheaper price. I was pulled in my the fancy leaf design! These come in 2 colours, Chestnut (brown/red) and Berry (raspberry). I love the fact that it is so pigmented that you only need to tape your brush onto the product. It is definitely a must have from their make up line!

FOLLOW UP REVIEW: The Body Shop Vitamin C Radiance Serum

Hey guys, I'm back with a follow up review for you! A few weeks ago I started using the Body Shop Vitamin C Radiance Serum in hopes of a clear even toned face. I used it every night since the mixture was "mixed" and even used sunscreen on top to help. I must mention before I get ahead of myself, Vitamin C will either work for you or not. I knew about many people breaking out from vitamin c or having a reaction because of the vitamin c. I also heard a lot of people who have had fantastic results from vitamin C.

Unfortunately, this broke me out horribly and did nothing for my acne marks. I wish it would have done something... a brighter face even? but I haven't noticed a thing except my skin has gotten worse. I believe it was just too strong for my skin to handle which is a real shame as I had high hopes for this product. I'm glad for the people who have had vitamin c work for them because this is a great vitamin c product in general, it just didn't work for my skin...
I'm now in the process of cradling my wounds *har har*. The search for my HG product continues!

Skin Care: Vitamin C

I've been getting a lot of people asking about my skin care routine. Its almost always changing though but I will have a post up soon letting you know what I've been using as of late. Lately I have added something else to my routine and that is Vitamin C.

I'm testing out this new product from the Body Shop called The Vitamin C Facial Radiance Powder Mix. My beloved vitamin c re-texturizing peel has been discontinued and instead I found this. It was marked $28 CAD but they had a promotion which was buy 2 products get the 3rd for 76 cents! I'll make a separate post featuring the other 2 products I got (well the SO got me actually!) on another day.

Why did I choose Vitamin C? Well Vitamin C helps brighten, tighten and improve the texture of your skin. Its very hard to find stable vitamin c in skin care products so I was happy to find something where you mix the vitamin c into a serum. I believe Philosophy sells an actual vitamin c powder that you can mix into anything (serums, moisturizers etc..). I am hoping this will help fade acne discolouration and even out my skin tone.

The Body Shop website reads:

Best if you want to: Improve skin tone and texture for a look of natural radiance with a freshly mixed powder with serum for 5% vitamin C concentration. Best for: Dull skin How it works:

Contains Amazonian camu camu berry, which is known to have one of the highest contents of vitamin C in nature.

Community Trade aloe vera from Guatemala is renowned for its incredible soothing, hydrating and moisturizing properties — perfect for sensitive skin.

The downside is that its only supposed to be good for 10 days (after you mix it) which makes this serum very pricey. I will have an update on my thoughts and if it worked for me or not later :)

It comes with a 10 mL bottle of serum.

The powder is hidden away in the white cap and also comes another cap to replace the white one once you inject the powder into the serum and break the seal.

Seal is broken, all the powder gets dumped into the serum.

Replace it with the new cap!

With any vitamin c product, don't forget to use sunscreen with it, otherwise the product will become useless and you will not see any results! Sunscreen acts like a shield, protecting the layer of skin to help prevent further sun damage :) Has anyone tried this? what are your thoughts on Vitamin C products? Let me know!

I'd like to step away from the beauty side for a moment and focus on accessories for once! I love rings, and I would have to say this is one of my favourites yet. Its from BCBG and its a skull knuckle ring. It was pretty expensive but I wear it a lot and its very well made. I've been in love with BCBGC rings ever since!

With a ring like this you don't need a fancy outfit!

Shiseido... underrated?

Hey all! Back with a little discussion post/picture post. I know shiseido is very popular within the asian culture but I've noticed not many other people are very interested in the Shiseido line. I do however believe Shiseido has some gem items, like the lash curler ( if your eyes don't like Shu's try shiseido's, it has a more gentle curve so its more suitable for asian or small eyes), as well as the now discontinued lash primer. Now I can safely say that the new Perfect Rouge lipsticks are a definite star product!

The case is in a nice sleek metal casing, not exactly round but has a nice grip to it.

I currently have two:

RS701 - Serenity (slightly mauve pale nude)
PK331 - Divine (bright, baby pink with blue undertones)

The lipsticks come in different finishes (matte, sheer etc...) the 2 I have are satin finishes. They provide just enough moisture but I find that they don't slide around and last a decent amount of time on my lips even while drinking or eating.

Divine is my current fave. Bright pinks and baby pinks are my current love. Serenity is a really nice pale lip colour, it has just enough mauve in it so it doesn't wash me out. Overall the colour selection is good though they mostly consist of nudes and reds. I got mine at Sephora for $30 CAD, go check them out if you can!

Guerlain Lipstick Love

Why oh why did I take so long to discover these jewels? Its the Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks! I became intrigued when Temptalia always raved about them. I finally got a chance to check them out and I have to say I was impressed.... not by the colour selection like YSL but by the formula. I would have to say they are so lightweight and comfortable and they wear quite well.
One reason why I love YSL Rouge Voulptes so much is because of how moisturizing they are and also the colour selection can't be beat. BUT the staying power isn't so great. Thats where the Guerlain Rouge Gs come in... They are very very comfortable to wear and they don't have the slippery feel some moisturizing lipsticks tend to have which can be bad (they slide all over the place). Lets look at the pros and cons....

PROS:

Lasting Power and Moisture: Even though they are moisturizing, they last a decent amount of time. And who wants to keep reaplying lipstick all day?

Pigmented: Swatching the whole line I found them to be very pigmented.

Packaging: This is the most luxe packaging I have ever laid my hands on. Its shaped like a gold bullet and when you pull out the tube, the top part opens to reveal 2 mirrors! Not only does it look elegant but it feels it too.

CONS:

Price Tag: Even though the case is extremely gorgeous and glam, thats what we are paying for mostly. Its retailed for around $50 CAD. Thats a lot for a lipstick. I would really have to love the colour for me to buy it and that brings me to the next negative...

Colour Selection: I would say about 75 %of the Rouge G Range are pinks. I think I saw maybe 2 nudes and a couple of darker colours but thats about it.

Another thing I have to note is that this thing is HEAVY... I am not kidding you! Its almost like a paper weight! This can be either good or bad depending!

The colour I purchased was Gardenia #02. It took me awhile deciding which but I thought I should get the one I will wear more often. If I like this one long enough I just may have to purchase it in a bolder colour. Gardenia is a very flattering muted rose shade. It isn't too pale for me since I do have pigmented lips and I think a nice muted pink is hard to find.

If you get a chance, do check them out! But they are definitely a splurge item!

New Favourite lip products.

Guess what? Another lipstick post... are you sick of these yet or what? I'd like to share with you some new favourites of mine. Sephora recently came out with a whole new line of lipglosses. I have to say I was never a fan of the old ones, too sticky, not pigmented enough, and too glittery.

But I am loving these new ones. They are called the sephora ultra shine lipgloss. I love how it clicks when yuo close it because you know for sure it won't end up spilling in your bag.

Also I love the new applicator. Its an hourglass shaped sponge tip which is surprisingly nice to apply with.

I would say its a semi sheer colour at least for me. I have pigmented lips so thats why it doesnt completely cover my lip colour but it does give a good amount of natural beige colour. It looks very nice paired with a nude lipstick.

My favourite combo at the moment is with Revlon Color Burst lipstick in soft nude, pictured below.

I have swatched the other colors and they are very promising, I plan to buy more in the future. They also have different formulas, this one is listed as shiny (no shimmer, just shine).

I think I came on the coral bandwagon last, either way I am glad I found these two gems. One high end the other affordable.

First one up: Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color in True Coral.

It took me a long time of thinking, reading reviews, watching reviews about weather or not to purchase this. Why? well... I bought this for $52 CAD! I've never spent that much on a lip product ever. It was hard to justify it but I am so glad I did. It doesnt have as much slip at the YSL rouge volupte but its super moisturizing, rich in colour and definetely long lasting (I cant say the same for the YSL RV). I absolutely love the packaging. Just holding it, it feel luxurious and expensive. Even closing it.. it makes a different sound than other packaging. laugh if you want but I'm telling you, thats how it feels like!

I decided on this colour because while I could have gotten something safe like a nude or something bold like a hot pink I wanted something I didnt have. So this coral fit perfectly, and I love it.

The affordable coral is the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in Nostalgia. It isn't a bright or as long lasting as the Tom Ford but it is very wearable. I got this on sale for $3.99 otherwise I don't think I would have taken a look at their lipsticks. I am very surprised and pleased with this range of Rimmel lipsticks. They have a ton of colours and finishes to choose from and the scent/taste isn't offensive at all.

Well here I am and back with more posts! A lot has happened the past few months including me going on vacation as well as me being sick. I've been meaning to update sooner but I've been really busy and lacking post ideas. Haven't been hauling much but I do have a couple of new lip items I've purchased since my last post. This post is on the not so new Wet 'n' Wild Mega Last Matte Lipsticks. I kept hearing raves from some of the girls and I was convinced, especially because of the price of these! In canada I have only found them in walmart, and I don't particularly live near one so when I passed by the other day I needed to make a quick stop in.

I purchased these I think for around 3 bucks CAD each which was a pretty sweet deal. I can't believe how much wet 'n' wild has improved since I used their products back then.

I picked up 3 colours; Bare it all, Think Pink and Stoplight Red. -sigh- I think I need more... I really think I am addicted. I wouldn't say these are as matte as MAC's but they are pretty matte as far as drugstore lipsticks. Almost as matte as the Revlon Matte formula but for much cheaper. In fact I think wet 'n' wild has a better colour selection too.

Packaging is cheap; I wish the lipstick went down all the way so you won't nick the top with the cover, very light feel to it as well but it is 3 bucks so the packaging will suffer. Its okay though, I think they made a good choice to keep it plain and black. One thing I really wish they would change is the name on the packaging. Instead of showing the actual names, they have the number which doesn't really make any sense to me.

Comparisons:

I think Stoplight Red is a pretty good dupe for my favourite red of all time, MAC Ruby Woo. On the lips they look 100% identical, besides the fact that it isn't as drying of a formula as the MAC mattes.

All 3 of my blue based reds. Really Red is more neutral and looks a lot like MAC's Russian Red. Stoplight Red and Ruby Woo both have a "cherry" undertone.

Whatever you've been doing Wet 'n' Wild, keeping doing it please!! 2 thumbs up!

Stila Smudge Stick Swatches

This entry is for Sarah! Since you asked so nicely for a swatch of the Stila Smudge Stick waterproof line in Peacock, I thought I'd be nice enough to share =p Sorry I took so long!

These are one of the newest additions to the Stila line. If you are familiar with Stila, you would know one of heir famous items is the Smudge Pots. The liner sticks are pretty much the same except in stick form. Whats great about these is that you have maybe 30 sec-1 min to smudge it how you want and then it sets! I find this to be very true for this colour at least. I know the bronze/brown shade does have a habit to smudge a lot more even after it "setting". So I think it varies depending on the shade. The Back shade and this one seemed to really stay budge proof on my hand when I tested them out.

Now onto the swatch...

I found this to be one of the more stand out shades from the collection. It truely is amazing, a pretty pop of colour on your lower lash line is enough to make your eyes stand out. I am hoping to aquire the Silver and Olive shade as well. I think these are well worth the money and I do prefer these for the lower lash line over the pots because its easier to use and its great for touch ups on the go.

Happy Weekend beautiful bloggers! Had a day off today so I decided to make use of my time and snap some swatches because I know you all love that!

This entry is all about blush, cream blush to be exact. I love cream blush to use underneath powder blush in the summer because I tend to be more oily and my blush needs more staying power.

Here are the ones I've been using lately:

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy Sheerest Cream Blush in Sunrise.

This is a very natural peachy shade. This is one of the most fool proof blushes I have ever tried making this a great choice for cream blush beginners!

N.Y.C Blushable Creme Stick in Plaza Pink.

For me this is in between a pink and peach. I see more peach than pink and there is a tiny amount of shimmer in this one. Very affordable at $5 CAD and great for traveling!

The last one is Make Up Forever's HD blush in #6 Quickie.

This one is sooo pigmented, one of the most pigmented cream/liquid blushes I've ever used. Its a coral shade and it is described as a salmon pink. The bottle is small yes, BUT... and I must mention this... you only need to "tap" with your finger on the pump not push down all the way. They do give instructions on the bottle but in very tiny font and not everyone is bound to read it.

All this colour is just from 2 small taps!

And before I go, let me share you my Nails of the Day! I've fallen in love with the new Rimmel Lashing Finish Pro polish. I am in loooove with the brush, its curved which makes it easier to paint your nails. This is in the colour Steel Grey. love love love!

Revlon Lipstick Swatches and Contest Winner(s)!

Last week I bought some lipsticks from Rexall's Love your lips 50% off sale. Got one for my contest prize and 2 of the new Revlon Colorburst lipsticks. The packaging is very much like Dior's with the criss cross quilted pattern on one side and plain on the other as well as the logo stamped on the lipstick.

I chose Soft Nude which I really love. Its what I wanted MAC's Creme d'Nude to be. As well as the shade Peach, which is an okay colour. I think I like MAC's Ravishing more but we will see.

My Summer Essentials aka Favourites of the Moment and Current Lemmings.

Its still spring but the weather here has just been "summer" weather lately! I've been sweating just trying to put on my face some days. Here are some must haves/most used products for this heated weather.

Sunblock:

I use either Shu Uemura UV Armor or Neutrogena Dry Touch sunblock. Both work great for me so far. If I know I'll be out for most of the day I try to use at least an SPF of 35. Try to get the sunblock even on the parts of your body where you think wont matter, like back of your ears and back of your neck.

Waterproof Mascara:

I use waterproof all year round because it holds my curl really well. BUT I think a waterproof mascara for summer is a must because of the humidity, your mascara might have a tendency to run down your face. My favourite of the moment is the Make Up Forever Aqua Smoky Lash. Gives my lashes a lot of drama and thickness.

Oil Blotting Sheets:

Even if you have dry skin year round, in the summer you're bound to get oily somewhere on your face within the middle of the day. I'm using the clean and clear oil blotting sheets SO got me from Hong Kong (grapfruit scented). These help absorb oil without disturbing your make up.

Bronzer:

I dont apply bronzer to my entire face. I do however, apply it to the apples of my cheeks or contour. Lately Ive been using Annabelle's zebra bronzer if I want a little shimmer or the Chanel Bronze Universal if I'm going for a matte look. If I'm not up for something as bronzy and want more colour I use Lorac's satin blush in Plush which is a deep peachy colour.

Budgeproof Ey eliner:

The worst thing you can have while walking in the heat is racoon eyes from your eye liner smearing all over. Thats where this product comes in, Stila's waterproof smudge stick eyeliner. Its just like the original smudgepots but in stick form. You have about 30 seconds to smudge it if you wish then it sets. I have it in the shade peacock which is a gorgeous blue colour. Its a great alternative to black.

And last but not least...

Moisturizing lip colour:

I love Gosh's soft 'n shine lip balm. I find it more to be a moisturizing lip stick. It is a bit similar to MAC's slimshines, except it hasn't melt and I do love it so much more! Smells just like vanilla, not sure if it has SPF and the colour selection is pretty good. My favourite colour at the moment is in Barbie which is a bright pink. Its not too bold that you can't wear it during the day but it is definitely buildable. Its so slick and moisturizing and it fades evenly throughout the day.

Why Make up?

I often get asked why do I buy so much for? Why am I curious about so and so? For me its a bit odd to explain to other people, almost awkward. But let me break it down for those who are still confused (if you happen to be reading):

1) I love all things beauty related. Why? it makes me feel good and it brings my creative side out.

2) I love to try new things. Why? There is always something new and different being released in the beauty world. I love to see how products have improved and what it can do for everyone.

3) Its just plain fun!

Make up is just something I enjoy learning about. I am always on the look out to try new things and maybe find better holy grail products. I love the blogger community because you girls are what makes me excited about it! The fact that we share one common interest and not be criticized is great. I feel like you bloggers are like a second family to me, sharing tips, secrets and even getting to know you aside from the beauty related topics just brings us all closer together :)

So the next time someone makes fun of me for buying the newest foundation etc... I know that I always have you guys to share the news with.

A Haul, a Surprise Package and Food Post!

Hello again! Sorry about my lack of updates again, I've decide to put everything all into one post to make it easier on myself and you!

I recently receive a surprise package from the ever so sweet Isabel of Annabelle and Marcelle cosmetics in Canada! It included a powder/bronzer brush as well as a Bronzer! I was so eager to try the bronzer I swatched it right away before even thinking of snapping a photo! Funny thing is, I realized I already have this brush! I bought it a few years ago, but mine is worn out so I'm glad I have a new one. I love that it has a small handle so I always use this in my make up bag.

I also purchased a couple of things I've been meaning to get for awhile. I think I won't be hauling for awhile now because I do have things I need to pay for within the new few months.

I purchased the Lush lip scrub in Bubblegum, Dior skin air flash foundation, TiGi Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo and the Lorac baked satin matte blush in Plush.

What I am most excited about is the Dior Air Flash foundation. I already tried it prior to purchasing and it is the most expensive foundation I have bought to date. Even then I have to say this may be as close to an HG foundation I will ever get. Thats saying a lot, I have tried so many different foundations, high and low, and I would trade them all.. even the MUFE HD for more of the air flash. Will do a more in depth review later on.

This lip scrub smells and tastes so good! The lush SA told me its safe to lick off after scrubbing. Yes, curiosity got the best of me and I tried, and YES it does taste yummy!

Lorac seems to be a very undderated brand. Their blushes seem to be their stand out product to me and I can see myself purchasing more in the future.

I also wanted to share some food porn with you all! Its been awhile.... Me and the SO went to this amazing chocolate place. They have the best macarons (one of my fave desserts) and chocolate foundue. We wanted to try something different so we tried the smores. Its actually a DIY dessert which was so fun but tasted even better!

But oh so good =D

New Urban Decay Shadows!

Urban Decay launched some new eye shadows to add to their lineup. (I'm not certain if these are permanent or not). I have 2 of the new ones, FreeLove which is a light tangerine shade and Haight, a dark teal leaning towards the blue side. Both of these have the same great formula, satin, silky, smooth, soft and very pigmented! Each shadow comes with 1.5g of product in a pot shapes like a bus token. Now so much a fan of the packaging as I like them small and less clunky but I do how you can see the shade through the small window on the top.

These retail for about $17 USD and I believe around $21 CAD, correct me if I'm wrong. These shadows are well worth the price. If you are starting off to venture into shadow I would suggest investing in their palettes which have the same amazing quality as the singles. They are popular for releasing new palettes every season and are very much worth it!

REVIEW: Annabelle Mineral Powder Foundation

PROS: * Easily blendable.
*Fast and easy to use. Saves time in the morning!
* Tons of product.
* Gives a nice sheen to the skin.

CONS: *So far, only 4 shades available as far as I've seen.
* Still a bit expensive for a drugstore foundation.
*There wasn't an inbetween shade from barely beige to true beige and I found both to be a bit of a big gap in colour.

Application: I love using a flat top brush, Sephora mineral brush or my Alima #25 brush.

Coverage: very buildable. Sheer-medium coverage. I find it to be the same coverage as Bare Minerals.

I wasn't sure which one would suit me based on the swatches online so the lovely Isabel sent me both foundations so I can see which one matched me better. In the winter I could use Barely beige. Even though I found it bit too pink for my skin, I could get away with it if I buffed it in well. Right now I mix both colours as True beige is a bit too dark for me but I can definitely use it in the summer! So far I am very much loving this foundation. I would pick it over bare minerals everyday. So far I haven't experienced itching when I get hot like I sometimes do with BE even though Annabelle does contain bismuth which seems to be the problem with most mineral fondations. I do wish they would come ot with a wider selection of shades as I think a lot of us woild benefit from the selection.

Last Words: I've been using this for over a month now and I really do like it. Its fast and easy, great if I have an early morning. I love that annabelle is becoming on top of whats "in" in the cosmetic industry. I think its one of the better Canadian drugstore companies and definetely worth a try!

HG Mascara primer + Lipstick of the moment

Have a mediocre mascara? I've got 3 words for you: Shiseido Mascara Base.

Why? Well, let me just show you...

Here I used the mascara base and Dior's Black out mascara on top. Although black out seems to be the better of the dior mascaras I've tried, it is definetely NOT worth the price tag. It does a decent job in thickening and darkening my lashes but nothing that wowed me. In fact I know many drugstore mascaras that can do just as good if not better than black out.

Now paired with this amazing base it is a major improvement! I promise you, this will make any mascara look great. It will also make your mascara waterproof, as well as hold a curl all day.

Now that the days are getting a bit warmer, don't be afraid to add some colour to your lips. I recently picked up this hot pink shade that caught my eye. Its Dior Rouge lipstick in 475 Pink Preview. The formula is lovely, glides on like butter, very moisturizing and colour pay off is fantastic! I haven't been wowed by dior's lipstick ever.. but this shade really caught my attention. Well, any bright lip colour catches my attention really.

I think this shade would look great on many skin tones.

I found my plans for today canceled which led to me spending part of my day swatching new goodies! I got a lovely package from Sara of the Make up Snob! She was nice enough to send me the Milani Perfect Red Lipstick I was drooling over on her blog post. Unfortunately we don't have milani here, so she said she could send me one :) She even included extras! How nice!

Ever since she sent me these "powder mosaics" I have been using them everyday. They give the most glowing sheen to your cheeks! LOVE them! Thank you so much Sara :)

The red is sooo gorgeous! Its very much a classic red. Nice packaging too, reminds me of dior and estee lauder.

On my skin... The red is supposed to adjust slightly to your skin tone.

I know you have all read, seen and heard about the now not so new Revlon Matte lipsticks. I refused to be sucked into trying them mainly because I think the price is ridiculous for drugstore! $10 CAD is a lot to spend on a lipstick from a drugstore I think. But I did... I gave in! I purchased a red called "Really Red" and a pink called "Pink Pout". Initially I thought Pink Pout may be too light but its not at all. I think because its a muted/dusty light pink it works well on me. Really Red is an amaaazing old hollywood red, a real classic matte! what I love most about these is the formula. Its not completely matte, like the MAC Mattes which are true mattes, it is more like a suede finish. Very creamy and a dream to apply, as far as mattes go!

I have a feeling Really Red is good competition for my Beloved favourite MAC Ruby Woo. RR seems to be a true red whereas Ruby Woo has a chery red undertone to it. RR isn't as close to as drying as Ruby Woo which scores extra points!

I hope Revlon decided to release more colours in the Matte range as it is a lot more versatile than shimmery formulas.

Annabelle Mineral Pigment Dusts

I received 2 of the Annabelle Mineral pigment dusts in Eco Chic and Myth. Let me start by saying that Annabelle is only found in Canadian drugstores such as Shopper's Drug Mart. Lately I have been loving their mineral line and these colours are a great addition to the already existing loose shadows.

These pigments are loose, soft and very blendable. They aren't the same texture as MACs and definitely more shimmery. They can be used wet or dry depending on the look you're going for. The only dislike I have about it is the packaging! The hole on the top is smart but I find it a little too small for most of my brushes. The way I use it is just unscrew the top part which makes things a lot easier for me :)

Each jar is 2.5 g and this will last you a very long time. Its travel friendly though I wouldn't suggest carrying loose shadows around if you're clumsy! Check these out if you ever have the chance, they have a nice colour selection!

I would describe the colours as, Myth being gun metal grey with a hint of taupe and Eco Chic as spring green. My fave would have to be Myth, it makes for a nice smoky eye!

Tokidoki @ Sephora!

Over the past few days I purchased some items from the new Tokidoki line launched exclusively for Sephora. Everything was very cute in a grown up sort of way, if you already know how Tokidoki is. Tokidoki is a line of merchandise and art created by Italian artist Simone Legno.

I purchased 2 of the Perfetto liquid Eyeliners. One in Sabochan (black) and the other in Mostro (light green). What makes these liners unique is the tip. Its not a brush, but rather a felt tip. Very much like a marker, with the exception that its chiseled! You can get a thin or thick line depending on how you hold the pen. These aren't waterproof but ARE smudge proof! I believe these are the stand out products of the line. I am also going to be including some of these in the prize for my contest :) I purchased these for $21 CAD each.

Next I got the Fantastico Lip Ink, which are lip stains. I don't do well with lip stains because my lips are already dry. These ones on the other hand, do not dry them out anymore than they already are. I have the colour Carnivora which is a dark fuschia. I like how the tip is pointed for precise application. Got this for $20 CAD.

Here's a look I did using all of the items! I am wearing the black perfetto liner and the green one right above it. On my lips I have the lip ink in Carnivora.

I also bought a tin of mints. It features 2 different designs of different characters. I got the one with Moofia on it. Inside it comes with sugar free mints as well as a mirror :) very handy! I believe these are $7 CAD each.

Well hello there! I hope all of you are enjoying this beautiful weather we are having (at least here!) and having a Happy Easter (if you celebrate)! I'm back with yet another new item -shame shame-. I've thought about getting this for awhile now, a long while because it is expensive! Its the way it feels that really sealed the deal for me... very finely milled powder that feels so soft. Love this!

Its one of the new items from Givenchy. Also my very first Givenchy item.

Le Prisme Sun Visage Mat Face Powder/Bronzer in Sun Cinnamon. I believe this is the darker of the 2 powder bronzers that came out. They also released a couple face powders with the same formula. It features 4 blocks off shades, from light to dark. 2 of the blocks were taupe and the other 2 are peach, a great mix! all four are raised up, if that makes any sense...

The purpose of thos product is to give a glowy look to the skin without looking sparkly. I can definitely say that it does just that! This colour is perfect for an all over glow or just to contour in the warmer months. I normally don't like bronzer all over my face but I do love it on my cheeks. It looks very natural on me and it super easy to blend. I also like the smell of it, kind of a sweet scent.

Now onto the pictures...

The compact has a magnetic closure and features a pop out compartment that holds a small brush.

Very cute, even though I will not use this!

REVIEW: Annabelle Mineral Powder Bronzer in Terra

Sorry about the lack of updates, skin isn't cooperation and I just haven't had the time to blog lately. Also sorry about the photo quality, haven't had the chance to snap any in day light!

This is a quick review of the Annabelle Bronzer from the mineral line in Terra.

DESCRIPTION:

site reads: For a bronzed complexion that is free from the sun’s harmful effects! Especially formulated for sensitive skins, the Annabelle Mineral collection is perfect for creating a pure and healthy complexion without compromising your health. Offered in a shade reminiscent of naturally sun kissed glowing skin. Its texture is so light you’ll forget you’re wearing anything!

* 2.5 g

So far there is only one bronzer shade available.

PRICE: about $13-$14 CAD at selected drugstores in Canada.

PACKAGING: Clear plastic container.

PROS: * Does not dry out my skin.
* Very easy to blend and looks natural.
* Does not have any orange tones which can tend to look fake.
* Has a sheen instead of a sparkle, gives the perfect amount of glow.

CONS: *I really like the packaging but I wish there was a closure on the sifter so when I travel it doesn't spill onto the cap.
* a bit out of my price range for a drugstore bronzer.
* Only available in one colour so if you are very tan it might not show up on you. I would test it out first.

Application: I love using this with my MAC 109 brush for contouring.

Coverage: Buildable but not over the top.

Last Words: I've been using this for maybe 3 weeks now (though not every day) and it seems to last no longer and no less than my other bronzers. I find you only need a tiny amount so one jar will last you quite awhile. Because of the subtle sheen, I am able to use this to contour. The shimmer isn't very obvious when on my face. This will look great in the summer!
Also if you are sensitive to bismuth you may want to steer clear as this is the second ingredient in the list, though I haven't had any reactions to this. Overall, I am impressed with their new Mineral line! Love the packaging, very cute, and I am just testing out some powder foundations, blush and some shadows which I will have a review on later! Its great that there's a drugstore option for mineral makeup!

Sorry for the lack of FOTDs. My skin has been breaking out badly the past 2 weeks, so I have decided to cut down the amount of makeup I am using. I also got a reaction to an eye shadow at work last week so I'm trying to avoid any eye shadow at the moment.

Okay back to the exciting stuff! I have a theme for my contest finally! The theme is VINTAGE DOLLIES! I believe good vintage looks are hard to replicate and takes a lot of effort. Everything from the hair, to the eye brows, clothing etc...

Look at Veronica Lake, it takes a lot of work to look this good :p

DETAILS:

I want you to pick one decade from either the 2os, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. Do some research on the era (for example, the way they did their eye brows were different for each decade, take that into consideration) and the more accurate you are the more "points" you will get! You don't have to be an expert but I do want you to try and put effort!
You can also choose an actress, singer or model from the era and replicate the look. Be sure to duplicate the features that made her unique during that era! (example, Veronica Lake of the '40s, pictured, was famous for her "wave" hair style)
Send me at least a minimum of 4 photos (one must be a close up of your makeup). You don't need to have the clothes or hair but it would be nice if you tried! Body shots aren't necessary but nice to have any way.
Along with the photos send me a blurb of why you chose that decade and any inspirational photos that you used for the look. Also include which products you used.

New lippie from Etude House

-sigh- Can you tell I've been hoarding lipsticks latetly? Well I'm okay with that! I received a lovely package from my cousin in the Phil who sent me some goodies from Etude house! Ive been hearing many good and promising reviews on their items and have been wanting to try some out. Unfortunately Etude House is a korean brand and isn't easily available here. One of the items is a lipstick... not only that but a red one to boot!

The packaging is just gorgeous! From what I've seen, a lot of asian lipsticks aren't that great with pigmentation so I was a bit skeptical about how red this would show on me considering I have very pigmented lips to begin with. I was shocked when I applied one layer, true red! The shade is a medium red with red shimmer throughout! Hard to capture it on camera but I assure you that its there alright! I am so impressed with this, I want more!

Love love love it!!! Formula is amazingly smooth and creamy!

Lime Crime lipstick love

Despite all the negative drama surrounding the company and owner I bought a lime crime lipstick for several reasons. One, I have been following Xenia's (owner) progress for maybe 5 years now ever since she was making clothes on ebay with shrinkle (sugar pill cosmetics) so I had a soft spot in my heart for her. 2, just look at the lipstick colours and you will know how I felt! These lipsticks are available for purchase on line at her web site (lime crime) and in Urban Outfitter's in Canada. There was only a limited selection the time I went (last week) but I did find the color I have been eyeing!

The colour is Airborne Unicorn which is described as a: Soft medium purple with a neon note.

My photos aren't accurate.. they look less lavender and more purple/pink and a little darker than the photos show, (not at all as lavender). It looks completely scary but I promise you it is very wearable, more wearable than I thought!
The formula, comparing them to mac's, would be similar to an amplified except less soft but definitely just as creamy and opaque. The lipstick also smells of sweet vanilla just like mac's lipsticks.

I should also mention the packaging is similar, the only difference is the colour (obviously) and its a tad chunkier as well.

Swatches show more lavender than it really is.. more of a muted purple with pink undertones! (2 coats on lips)

I cant give an official review as I've only worn this lipstick twice but both times were positive for me! I would definitely pick up a couple more colours if possible!

New goodies + Future Contest!

Hello guys n gals! Here's a post to tide you over until my next one, just some new stuff I will be reviewing in the future as well as a contest coming up.

Isabel from Annabelle cosmetics and Marcelle was kind enough to contact me and send me some new annabelle products from their new mineral line! I was so excited to hear they are expanding into the mineral world. Today is the 2nd day I have been using the products and so far so good! Watch out for reviews of these later on.

I also bought one item from the Tarina Tarantino line from Sephora. I purchase the dollskin powder which is one of the softest pressed powders I've ever tried. The packaging is just an added bonus! The standout items in the collection are the powders, blushes and eyeliners. Definitely check them out! Another thing I liked about them is that the powders, although not many shades, run dark so all you darker skinned gals are sure to find a shade that works for you! I even liked the green powder corrector which I'm planning to get because I tend to have redness on my face a lot.

Comes in a cute little sack with a sponge.

Now, Ive been meaning to hold a contest for months now and I have finally gotten around to holding one.. well sort of. I am still thinking of what I should do, most likely I will have a post update on it next week so watch out for that, Very excited as it will be my first contest ever!

Shadow Ban '10

Other people's will power inspired me to do this... the question is.. can I keep it? Some youtubers have decided on a no lipgloss buy for the whole year, instead using up what they have. Other have tweaked it to say only 5 lipgloss purchases for the year. I thought about it and decided I need to do something about this "problem" I have. I think a Shadow Ban '10 is in order! I do think that a whole year is tough so I will tweak it to a 4 month ban for now as I don't want to do something I might possible break. I think I'll be okay because after the coastal scents 88 palette Arn got me, I think I have all the colours I need for now!

No eye shadow purchases for myself until July... wish me luck! Anyone else wanna join me? we can all support each other on our progress! Let me know your thoughts!

I think I can safely say the past few months I have become a lipstick addict. Its no wonder all of these items are lip products!

Left to right: YSL Rouge Volupte in Sweet Honey #4, YSL Rouge Pur in Romantic Pink #146, Giorgio Armani Shine lipstick in #50 and MAC cremesheen lipstick in Ravishing.

YSL Sweet Honey is a gorgeous colour. I would say this colour is overlooked and often ignored, but it really is amazing if you have olive undertones like me. I plan to wear this a lot in the summer as anything too light will clash with my tanned skin.

YSL Romantic Pink is a gorgeous pale petal pink. Its not too light but just enough to give my lips that nude look without looking harsh. The formula is a dream and lasts longer than the Rouge Voluptes as it is less creamy, which means less sliding around on your lips.

This is my first Giorgio Armani cosmetics purchase and I must say I love the formula of these ones. The only problem I have is the taste, very cheap lipstick taste.. which is the only reason why I would probably choose YSL's Rouge Volupte's over these ones. Not that the Armani ones aren't great but the taste is a bit off putting! The colour is a nice nude for my pigmented lips and it does give them a shine, you can definitely skip the gloss on these ones!

I have been avoiding the creme sheen formula from mac ever since they came out a year ago. I'm not sure why but I didn't care too much to try it. Well, I missed out.. because the formula is pretty good! Very pigmented and moisturizing which is what most people look for in a lipstick. Ravishing is an orange-coral leaning more towards orange. It isn't exactly the prettiest thing in the tube but on your lips its divine!

Valentine's FOTD, new products and life updates...

Happy belated Valentine's everyone! hope yours was as romantic as mine was :) I'm back with another post about new lip products! I know you have probably seen these already but I bought the new Viva Glam for Gaga lipstick and one thing from the Colour Forecast collection by MAC. Heres the deal, I wasn't too impressed with the colour forecast collection as I thought I would be. I am definitely going back for maybe 2 more lip products and MAYBE a blush (I haven't decided if its worth it yet, what do you think?) but overall, it wasn't that great. I did love the lipglass I did choose though. I decided on Electric Fuschia, its something I can see looking great over different lipsticks. I haven't really seen any other lip gloss like this one as far as I can remember. I meant to take photos of this but totally forgot, so just google if you really want to see how it is in the tube!
It is a bright fuschia with blue shimmer, gooooorgeous!
Looking at both new Viva glam lipsticks, I knew I would want the Gaga one for sure. The Cyndi one, although was a red, didn't really wow me. I like bright reds or matte reds. Full on colour reds! This looked too sheer for my taste but if you're not used to reds this will be a perfect colour for you to try out. Gaga's colour is a bright pale pink. The formula is a lustre meaning its sheer but can be built up. Because of the formula I think this will suit many different people. not all but many more than say... saint germain or snob.

On my lips I have 3 swipes on.

I also had an amazing valentine's despite working beforehand. Our anniversary is a few days after the 14th so we usually give one gift for both vday and anniversary since its so close. What he did for me this year was so amazing, I didn't really think it was possible. He bought an AD space in our local newspaper and put a photo of us wishing me happy valentine's and anniversary! it was soooo sweet :) I wish I had more copies!

Yesterday he also surprised me at work with a dozen roses! 5 of them were light pink (signifying out 5 years together and the rest darker pink)! It was really sweet :) I am so happy with how things are going, I couldn't ask for anyone better :)

For dinner we went to a french restaurant, very romantic. I had the best mushroom soup I've ever had! Everything was delicious!

Well, thats all I have for now... along with the good there are bad things as well. Someone recently passed away, very close with our family. So I probably won't have an update until the weekend...

Double Review: Dior Extase Mascara and Smashbox Heartbreaker Liquid Liner Pen

This is the latest mascara Dior has released. It promises great volume and length. I believe this is only available at sephoras right now, but don't quote me on that.

DiorShow Extase provides built-in treatment benefits and high-impact lashes in a single stroke! Also, SR38 Patented Ceramid brings additional care, reconstructing damaged lashes and promoting stronger and fuller lashes.

What else you need to know:
The Extase mascara features a "Tiered Brush" that is inspired by the "tiered" couture dresses created by the House of Dior. The brush is designed for performance and contains an Exclusive Duo of Fibers: The Black Elastomer Fibers brush out and define the lashes for panoramic fringe and the Gold Nylon Fibers hold and deposit formula, generously coating each lash for outstanding volume.

PRICE: $28 USD making this the most expensive mascara from Dior.

PROS:
* Great for thickening and lengthening.
* Also good for layering with other mascaras.

CONS:
*I don't know if its just me but the formula seems too wet that when I blink it gets all over my bottom and top lid.
*The brush also picks up way too much product, you would probably have to wipe off a good amount off unless you want a mess all over your lids!
* the price!
* Does not come in waterproof which is a must for me.
*It can get very clumpy.

OVERALL: Do I think its worth it? Not really.. maybe if they came out with a waterproof one I might give that a shot but I don't know if I can spend this much on a mascara again... I don't like the effect on its own because it doesn't really hold my curl so I would have to use it with other mascaras. I much prefer Dior blackout waterproof to this... but then again this is just my opinion :)

SMASHBOX HEARTBREAKER LIQUID LINER PEN

I had no intention of purchasing this liner.. that is until a coworker (Hi! if you're reading this!) convinced me to get it!

Sephora.com says:

This ultra-fine liner pen creates looks that range from sweet to sassy to seductive—in just one sweep.

PRICE: $24 USD.

PROS:
* its super black and stays true all day!
* though its long lasting its very easy to remove with your makeup remover.
* super easy and quick to use.

CONS:
*the price!

OVERALL: Now, I love liquid liner but I hate most of the brushes that liquid liners come in. This one in the other hand was quite easy to draw a line or thick line. I found myself doing my liner very quickly using this. I've been using this for about 2-3 weeks and its all I've been using lately because its just so easy and quick! Do I think its worth it? Well, yes and no. Yes because of how simple, quick and lasting it is. No because of the price and because its LE. I think I will have to look for a cheaper alternative :(

A First: Black head nose strips! (Kose Softymo Nose Clean Pack)

WARNING: There are close ups of the results, extreme close ups at the end of this post! I warned you, its not pretty!

Let me start off by saying this is a "first" because it really is a first for me. I have never used a nose strip, ever! I came across this on my recent trip to pmall, and remembered seeing a couple of reviews on how great this works. One in particular was the Muse's review on it. The SO is always looking for ways to get his snout clean and free of blackheads, so I thought oh why not? I can give it a try too! So I bought it, it was maybe about 10-15 bucks CAD and came with 10 strips. According to the Muse's review it contains charcoal which is also great for mattifying. If you're oily around your nose, this might be good for you.

I tried it for the first time today: I wet my nose, removed the backing on the strip, applied it to my nose and waited for about 5-8 mins. After a bit, it started to harden which felt a bit weird. When it was time to remove it, it kinda hurt because it had such a good grip!

When I looked at the strip... oh my gosh guys... just scroll down and see for yourself...

Asian Goodies Haul

Hello dear readers :) Gosh, I am so sorry for all the haul posts lately, Ive been working on a testing a few products out for reviews so thats been taking awhile. In the meantime, I hope this post will do. We went to pacific mall today (its an all asian mall-mostly chinese- here in the GTA) and I picked up a couple of things. The funny thing is what caught my attention was a sign outside that said, MAC SALE. I thought, oh look more fake mac! Had a few laughs outside then noticed they had a lot of asian products I've seen other bloggers review and rave about. So I ended up leaving with a handful of stuff....

I am kind of over the whole thick hard asian lashes beause it just doesnt seem to hold to the curve of my eye lately. I found these lashes to be a lot more natural looking with a thin band to boot! These were about 20 for 10 pairs :) They had a variety to choose from and I can't wait to wear them.

I also bought the Kose nose strips called Nose Clean Pack. It removes blackheads. Mainly got it because the Muse was raving about it on her site and also the SO wanted something to remove his. I personally have never tried to remove any black heads. for some reason they don't bother me too much, but I will try them out soon just to see if it makes any difference.

The last thing I got were the Rohto eye drops. I got the lycee contact ones, they also had the regular lycee ones. I looked on the back to see if there was much difference and saw a number chart 1-5. The contact ones were marked as 1 and the other was a 3. I asked the lady if one of them meant that it was stronger than the other but she was so clueless and she just said, if you wear contacts get that one.. uhhh ok but that wasn't what I was asking in the first place... its kind of obvious... I wish she would have just said she didn't know! This one is supposed to be the lighter and more gentle since its marked as a 1. These drops are very popular in asia, especially in japan. They are supposed to be much better than the drops here in North America. I think they sell the regular Rohto V drops in the US drugstores if I'm not mistaken. These lychee ones are only available in Japan or in stores like these.

I'm a bit nervous to try them, only because I heard that at first they feel like its stinging your eye but then you feel a very cool sensation... haha I dont know about that. Will have to do it when my eyes aren't too sensitive just to be safe...

Only recently have I been more aware of my nails and it was only recently that I discovered that there is a difference with "high end" nail polish versus drugstore ones. I used to only buy drugstore polishes thinking it wasn't any much different from an OPI. I was wrong wrong wrong! after discovering this, I decided that I need to throw away my old ones (they are all thick and goopy anyway) and invest in better ones (especially with the job I have now where clients are looking at my nails)! This is the first time I've used Essie but have always hears great things about their colours. I've noticed that they do have tons of light shades as well as some bright colous. Trade Secret was having a buy one get the 2nd half off so I decided to get 4. I finally decided it was time to invest in a base coat as well so I got the 3 way glaze which can also be used as a top coat.

Today I'm wearing Mink Muffs which is a dupe for Chanel's Particuliere. Formula is a bit more sheer than OPI's colours I've tried so far but still really good quality!

Maybe in the future I might try their more natural pale shades which is what they are famous for. Let me know if you have any experiences with Essie, good or bad in the comments! :)

Holts "haul" and my shopping experience.

Today me and the SO went to yorkville to browse through stores. We love going there because its usually pretty calm and they have a lot of great (but expensive) things, also the restaurants are pretty good!

Well I wanted to go into Holt Renfrew which is a high end department store. Took a look at Shu Uemura's spring collection. Really want the creamshadow/powder but I couldn't justify spending 60 on them. I gotta say they are gorgeous in person!

Made our way to the sunglasses section and passed by Alexander McQueen scarves. Planning to get one one day, as they would look great with any outfit! Again they were about 350 CAD... ouch! I need to win the lottery one day... now theres an idea =p

Now I have to say, I have a couple of sunglasses here but I don't own any good quality ones. The most expensive pair I own are 20 CAD. Not only have they been breaking on me easily but its tough to find a frame that fits my odd face shape. Also some sunglasses, shift up when I smile because of my cheekbones which is very frustrating! Been lemming for a pair of Chanel sunglasses but not any time soon! I tried a couple on and finally found 2 pairs that looked good on me. Both were by Marc Jacobs. I love his stuff, simple and classic. I decided to finally take the plunge and buy them, they are gorgeous! I especially love the sides: purple metal. The price wasn't too bad, 110 CAD, especially compared to the other options.

When we were leaving I spotted a huge sign that read up to 60% off. I looked down on the table and there it was. Becca cosmetics on sale! I've been wanting to try Becca but the price tag was a bit steep for me. I decided to try their concealer and foundation stick but also picked up a creme shadow which caught my eye. There weren't any testers so I had to open the packages to see if it was my shade. I was amazed by how many colour ranges there are for the concealer and foundations, from the palest white to the deepest shade, the only downside is that you have no way of telling whats darker and whats lighter because the names of them weren't numbered. Rather they had names like toffee and nutmeg. And let me tell you there where probably about 20 or more different shades! It was a real hunt to find my shade, lucky for me the SO helped to unbox them so we went through them a bit faster.

First off, just look at the packaging!

Reminded me of my Anastasia brow powder compact.

This is the concealer.. it has a Heavy coverage on one side and the other is medium. The heavy one is good for blemishes and discolouration and the medium one is ideal for under eyes. My shade in the winter is Cashew.

Also got a foundation stick, but I think I may need one thats a tad darker.... I found it a bit drying though but good coverage.

And here is the Creme shadow in graphite. It looks like a blue/grey slate colour in the pan but when on the skin its a sheer wash of grey/black with just a hint of blue undertone. Its not at all shimmeryon the skin as it looks in the pan, in fact I can't detect a single shimmer on my lids.

Also wanted to share one of my favourite scents of all time. Its by Sud Pacifique and its the Vanilla Extreme. I am a vanilla fanatic, scent and taste.. I normally don't like perfume except the rare case of fruity, refreshing or foody smells. I cannot stand musky odours at all!
Love this and it almost always seems to be out of stock so I was lucky when I saw one more left.

FOTD featuring MAC's Cremeblend Blush in Joie-De-Vivre (plus a mini review)

I purchased this when I randomly went by MAC last week. I just wanted to have a look at the new collections. Seeing everything on line didn't capture my interest but I decided hey I'm passing by, why not? Nothing caught my eye except for the new cremeblend blushes and the lipgelees from the MAC in Lilyland collection. The funny thing about this is that, I first swatched 3out of the 4 and was impressed but didn't think I could use any of them too much. Joie-De-Vivre was the one that I didn't even pick up. I thought, well a bright coral... they look nice but I don't think I would use it on my cheeks. Since the other 3 didn't interest me in term of using it frequently, I decided to swatch this one just for the sake of it. Well, upon first swatch, I fell in love. Really.

In the pan it looks like a bright coral, leaning towards a more pinky side. But when I swatched and blended it out it turned into this gorgeous shade that looked nothing like I've seen before. It just looked so flattering! I bought it right then! My initial thoughts about these were that, they were so much more lighter, creamier and easier to blend than the regular cream blushes in the permanent line.

I don't own the one in the perm but from what I've seen and swatched at the store, the other formula I found to be a bit similar to the stila convertible colours. They were thicker and a bit stickier compared to these cremeblend formulas. I also found that these wear pretty well and you CAN get a natural look using these as well as a more intense look by layering (though you dont need to do much layering as these are highly pigmented to begin with)

Another thing that is different about this formula is that it is lip safe which makes them a great multi-tasker! I'm not sure if these are perm so you might wanna check the website for more info on that. If you still aren't interested in these, I say at least swatch them! Might change your mind like it did with me :)

REVIEW: Revlon Photoready Foundation + nails

This is a review for the Revlon Photoready Foundation in 005

DESCRIPTION: The bottle reads:

Perfected airbrushed skin in any light.

* 30 mL

I bought this in 005 Natural Beige and I am in between an NC 25-30 in Mac I believe.

PRICE: For about just under 20 CAD.

PACKAGING: Glass bottle with a nice pump.

PROS: * Blends really well.
* I have noticed my skin looks good in photos. Despite the spf 20 which can make your skin look lighter in flash photography, I did not notice much difference in my face being lighter than my neck.
* The pump is really convenient. You can push it half way for a smaller dose, unlike the MUFE HD foundation's pump which is a bit harder to control.
* SPF of 20.

CONS: *You have to moisturize prior to applying this otherwise it the dry parts of your skin will look obvious.
* If you hate any kind of shimmer, you will not like this. Though you can't really tell unless someone is very close to you.
* Does not cover acne pigmentation, so you will have to use concealer on top of this for better coverage.
* The colour selection isn't that wide.
* Expensive for a drugstore foundation.

Overall:

I have used this for about 2 weeks now and these are my final thoughts...

Application: I tried this with the sephora #55 brush and the foundation brush. I feel that a regular foundation brush applied this better on my skin.

Coverage: Between light to medium coverage. The shimmer is notceable (at least with my shade), its sort of similar to illuminating foundations. The shimmer is not at all chunky.

Blend ability: Blends really well, especially compared to colour stay.

If you are looking for a foundation to really cover up scaring or marks, this wouldn't be the best choice. Overall, if it was cheaper I think I would repurchase. So far, no break outs for me which is a plus. I'm undecided on this foundation at the moment because while it does make a decent foundation, I'm not too keen on the shimmer and the way it can accentuate dry spots.

Recently tried out the other AA polish in Coney Island. I love it! It takes about 2-3 layers because it is much lighter, it shows streaks a bit more. overall a pretty nice light pastel pink :)

REVIEW: American Apparel Nail Lacquer in Office

When I was younger I used to wear a lot of extreme colours that most people thought were ugly, aka lime green-yellow, dark throw up green and the list goes on. The past 6-7 years I just started wearing red and blacks only... A few months ago I started to get more into my old habit... I've been collecting new nail colours here and there and I've found many interesting ones. Here is one that i thought I'd share...

AMERICAN APPAREL NAIL LACQUER IN "OFFICE"

DESCRIPTION: The site reads:

18 unique shades of high-quality color. Manufactured in the USA.

*Weighs 15 mL

PRICE: Retails in American Apparel stores for $7.50 CAD or 3 for 18. (I bought 3 but gave one to my cousin.)

PACKAGING: Square glass bottle, clean and simple. I really like the design.

PROS: *They have a nice slection of colors, some unique and some staples. You are sure to find at least one color you like.
* This is a possible dupe for Chanel Jade. Although I think this is slightly lighter and Jade has a bit of shimmer to it.
* Affordable!

CONS: *You need at least 2 coats for it to not show any streaks.

Overall: I find the formula to be a decent quality (at least with this colour). The photo shows just 2 coats, no base or top coat. For a cream/pastel, I find it to be not as streaky as I thought it would be. The colour is true to what it shows in the bottle, pretty impressed. I just absolutely love this colour, I may need a backup...

I will review my next AA polish, Coney Island, a nice light creamy pink a little later. Hope this review helped you guys :)
